24HR Art - Beijing Residencies

The 24HR Art – International Studio Residency Program was launched in 2011 with the establishment of a large studio at Huantei Art City, Chaoyang District, Beijing. Through a new partnership between 24HR Art and Asialink the program is open to all Australian contemporary visual artists, however there will be a focus on giving international professional development opportunities to artists from regional and remote areas. Artists are welcome to contact 24HR Art to submit an expression of interest in the program. Residencies will be awarded on an invitation basis only.

Five two month residency periods will be offered each year, with two artists sharing the studio and accommodation facilities during each two month period. February – March; April – May; June – July; August – September; October – November. Artists will receive free accommodation and studio space for a two month period, however there will be a fee charged to cover the facility running costs. It is expected that artists will be as self-sufficient as possible and up for the challenge of navigating their own way through the term of their residency.

Chung Wah Society

The Chung Wah Society is a social and sporting club for Darwin's burgeoning Chinese population. Our aims are to promote harmony and goodwill between Chinese residents in the NT and people of other nationalities; promote the general, cultural education, social interests and welfare of its members; and provide and maintain the Chinese Temple as a place of worship.

The Society's headquarters at Woods Street in Darwin house a fascinating NT Chinese Museum featuring photographic and written histories of the major Darwin Chinese families.
The Temple, also located at the Woods Street address, is a regularly used place of worship for many local Chinese and itself is rich in history. There is also a fully air-conditioned recreation hall which is the venue for functions including quiz nights, birthday parties and sports nights.

Membership to the Chung Wah Society is open to all. Please contact us for any enquiries.
